Jessie Sleet Scales

1900 — Jessie Sleet Scales was the first black district nurse in NYC and the first black public health nurse in the US.  Thereby, paving the way for other black health care workers.

This young man was literally killed by hate!

 



  Championed for those who were too young to fight for themselves.
She died so young but she
will not be forgotten.
